Lost in life. Or at least it felt that way.
I never really had a plan for my life. How can you feel lost when you never knew where you were headed in the first place? Well, I think that was my problem. I let life HAPPEN to me instead of LIVING up to my potential.
For a long time, and honestly it still happens sometimes, every time I saw an informercial for a new workout program or gimmick (yes, even the one where you just sprinkle stuff on your food), I couldn’t help but feel that pull of “Oh snap! THIS is THE ONE that’ll change the game for me!”
This especially happens with the fitness programs in the Beachbody library. Whenever they released a new program, I instantly started salivating and my hands itched to get ahold of it. As soon as it arrived, I’d rock the socks off that program for a week….and then I’d start to falter….until I just fell flat on my face and ulitimately that program just sat unfinished or in a constant state of start and stop until the next release. Good grief. I thought I just didn’t have willpower…that I just kept losing it whenever I found it.
I was tired and frustrated with hitting plateaus or even reaching my goal just to re-gain the weight and more. I was tired of always ending up stuck and sluggish, and STILL looking for the answer. I was ready to just give up.
So what happened? What changed?
Over the course of a year, I started listening, and I learned something about myself. You see, I was always looking for the answer OUT THERE…wherever OUT THERE is….. Always looking for THE gimmick or program that was going to give me the SECRET…the secret to getting myself to make the healthy choices when I’m at that crossroads between a brownie and a banana. I was searching for HOW. Well, HOW starts with believing in yourself and loving who you are NOW.
When it comes down to the basics, weight loss and getting in shape is pretty simple. You eat clean. You workout. You get good sleep. And you DO IT every day. That’s easy, right?
